So I was reading the September issue of Dog Fancy magazine, and they had a small section about an organization that goes around (they're located in North Carolina) and helps dogs that are chained up in yards by building a fence and also offering spaying/nuetering and vaccinations - all for free!

I think the idea is absolutely wonderful, especially since it's a well known fact that chained dogs can become bored and frustrated, therefore more dangerous. So far they've freed over 100 dogs from chains just in their state. They also accept donations (of course) because they're totally non profit.

Seeing this makes me wish I had the smarts and cohesiveness to try and start something similar in my community. It's such a great idea, so many positive things come out of it!

Wow, i had no idea there was an organization like that here in the Carolinas! I'll definitely have to donate to them some time soon. :]

Yea, it is great :)

That's cool Blau, that you live close(r) to it! I do hope that they become large enough to begin expanding into more states!

Oh wow! I'd love to see that in other states too. It is also true that a lot of chained dogs without fences are also not fixed, which creates a problem because they're kinda just stuck there for any other dog to come over and make puppies. If I ever get the money, I'll definitely donate to them!
